Providing hope for the children of Haiti since 2010
Misson: The mission of Soccer 4 Haiti is to distribute new and used soccer balls to kids in Haiti and to raise community awareness for the challenges Haitian children face every day. The organization was formed in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that ravaged Haiti in 2010.
Our Story: In 2010, a group of middle school boys gathered together to discuss ways in which we could make a small difference in the lives of kids in Haiti. The discussion quickly turned towards looking for ways to help Haitian kids find an outlet to get their minds off of their real world problems. Since the group all share a passion for soccer, and we recognize the importance that sports have played in our lives, it was decided that providing soccer balls could make a difference in the lives of Haitian kids impacted by the destruction.
Our first soccer ball collection initiative took place in the spring of 2010 and a partnership was quickly formed with Partners in Health who agreed to transport and distribute our first batch of soccer balls. Since then, we have raised over $7,500 dollars and donated approximately 2,200 soccer balls.
In the Fall of 2013, the founders created a Soccer 4 Haiti Club at Needham High School to give other students an opportunity to get involved.
